What I Love About Being Pregnant!

For many moms out there, pregnancy is a very uncomfortable time in their lives. The first trimester is usually the worst, where moms experience morning sickness, (or rather ALL DAY sickness), with the constant nausea and vomitting. Luckily for me, I never had to endure any morning sickness with all of my pregnancies. Despite the not so nice things that come along with pregnancy, there is a lot I love about being pregnant! Not to mention you get a wonderful, adorable, baby to love at the end! Read on to learn what I love about being pregnant.

1. People treat you EXTRA nice!

Yes! People are extra kind to you. They open doors for you. They let you have a seat when there are no other seats available. They let you eat first. They give you food and encourage you to take it easy and put your feet up! They congratulate you and ask you how you’re feeling. This is exactly how an expectant mother should be treated! It ain’t easy folks!

2. You get to EAT!

I’m not saying you get to load up on unhealthy stuff and just eat whatever! It is very important to eat plenty of healthy foods which are rich in nutrients to help you and your growing baby. The doctor also recommends that you do avoid certain foods when you are pregnant. But basically, pregnancy is not the time to diet and minimize your caloric intake. You’re actually supposed to eat more calories than when you weren’t pregnant! You’re supposed to gain weight. For myself, I pretty much eat whatever I want when I’m pregnant as long as I don’t over do anything. I don’t hold back the sweets but of course I don’t load up on them excessively.

3. You can get away with wearing TIGHT FITTING clothing

When I’m not pregnant, there’s no way I can get away with wearing tight fitting clothing. If you’ve been following my blog for sometime, you know that I’m a big fan of the oversized t-shirt! All the clothes I buy when I’m not pregnant is either relaxed fit or oversized. When I’m pregnant, I can actually wear body con dresses and tight t-shirts and flaunt my growing belly! It’s awesome!

4. Expectant mother PARKING!

Self explanatory. I love this perk! No need to search and search for parking when you’re pregnant. You just look for the expectant mother parking sign and you got rock star parking! SCORE!!!

5. You get to be on MAT LEAVE!

Don’t get me wrong, being a stay at home mom is a ton of work! I actually find it way more tiring to be home, clean the house and take care of all the kids than my job! But I also do appreciate the precious time I get to spend with my kids, to be able to be with them every single day, take them to school and just be there for them. Here in Canada, we get 1 year of maternity leave which is great! I think being on leave for 1 year is just the perfect amount of time. By the time baby is one, I’m usually ready to get back to work.

6. You have a reason to PAMPER YOURSELF!

Being pregnant can be really painful and uncomfortable which is the perfect excuse to go for a massage or a mani or pedi. When not pregnant, us moms tend to neglect ourselves and forget about self-care. I love getting massages when I’m pregnant. It’s the perfect way to wind down and get some needed rest and relaxation. I especially like getting my feet and legs massaged when I’m pregnant! Me and my hubby like to go together. It’s a perfect date!

7. The ANTICIPATION and EXCITEMENT of waiting for baby to come!

For my first three pregnancies, I had to know the gender, especially with my first child. I had to know everything. I had to be prepared. Everything had to be just the way I wanted. Now with baby no. 4 on the way, I’m a bit more relaxed about everything, so we decided not to find out the gender, and it’s actually kind of exciting this way!

I’m really bad at predicting so, I really don’t know if it’s going to be a boy or a girl. I just know whatever sex it is, it’s going to be wonderful no matter what! However, I do have a hunch it’s going to be a boy because this time around I’ve had headaches which now have gone since the third trimester has begun. I never had headaches with any of my previous pregnancies. We will find out on the big day and keep you guys posted! How exciting!

Those are my 7 reasons why I love being pregnant! What do you love about being pregnant?

  1. I LOOOVVVEEEDDD being pregnant. I’ve had 3 kids, and even though my second one gave me lots of problems it was still amazing. Just knowing that you have your baby in there, protecting it from everything, is such a feeling of love. Plus all the other benefits you listed!

  2. I love this! What a great reminder of the “glass half full” perspective of pregnancy. My husband and I are thinking of having another little one in the near future and this made me want to be pregnant again now! It is such an exciting time!

  3. Very true. I loved being able to eat as much as I wanted until I saw the number on the scale. For me the excitement of waiting for baby to come near the end was the best.

  4. There are definitely some advantages to being pregnant! I loved wearing things that I would never wear while not pregnant, due to my own insecurities. When pregnant I have this big, round belly and don’t mind showing it off.

  5. You look so good in your pregnancy. I remember I never liked the way I used to look in fitted dresses. Take care!

    1. Hi Surbhi! Thanks so much! I usually don’t wear fitted dresses either, only during pregnancy! Lol.

  6. I loved absolutely everything about being pregnant. I was one of those lucky women who literally had no symptoms and truth be told, felt better pregnant than I ever feel normally. But, people don’t like to hear that sadly so I kept my mouth shut a lot LOL. I did not want to be one of those super annoying Pollyanna type pregnant ladies. The real truth though? I miss it every single day!

    1. Wow you are so lucky Heather! I’m also one of the lucky ones with no nausea and vomiting. It was just really uncomfortable towards the end, you know the last month but otherwise, I can’t complain too much!

  7. Emily congratulations on your pregnancy. I also have four. Although they are a lot older than your little ones. I know there are so many perks to being pregnant. Mine would be they let you sleep where ever you are because you’re so tired all the time. Haha! Good luck and a safe and delivery.

    1. Thank you, Mary! I’m really excited! I’m starting to prep and gather baby clothes and items. I gave all my baby stuff away bc I wasn’t expecting to have a 4th. But I’m more relaxed this time around!
